Family Support and Involvement
- Student attendance at BSCS is ninety-five percent
(95.5%)-significantly higher than average district and NYC
rates.
- Ninety-nine percent (99%) of BCSC families were present at
parent/teacher conferences, which occur twice a year.
- Over ninety percent (90%) of parents/guardians expressed
satisfaction with BCSC in our annual survey.
Student Retention and Community Interest
- Our student retention rate was ninety-six percent (96%).
- Over 1,000 children applied for 60 available slots.
BCSC Student Profile
Our students originate from the United States, Puerto Rico, the
Dominican Republic, Caribbean islands, Mexico, Honduras, Peru,
Ecuador, the Philippines, and several African countries.
While all of our academic studies are conducted in English to
ensure our students' academic success, our school community
respects and celebrates these home languages and cultures.
During the 2011-2012 academic year:
- Eighty four percent (84%) of our students received free and
reduced lunch, a key indicator for poverty;
- Fourteen percent (16%) of our students received English as a
Second Language (ESL) support services;
- Twelve percent (14%) of our students received Special Education
support services.
